Vegan Apple Tart

Tarts can be sweet or savoury, modern day tarts are filled with fruit or custards. Either you can prepare an open or closed tart and this post illustrate both options. A flaky outside with a golden sweet crust with a tangy and cinnamony inside filled with honey crisp apples. This simple dessert was made under an hour, which includes both the preparation and baking in the oven. This simple Vegan Tart can be for you alone or for your loved ones.

Ingredients for the Vegan Apple Tart: Organic Roasted Cinnamon, Organic Apricot Jam, 5 Apples, 1 large brown egg, 1 lemon, Light Brown Sugar and Aussie’s Vegan Puff Pastry.

*Side Note: Prior to preparation for the Tart, take your Puff Pastry out of the freezer and allow it to thaw out for approximately 40-45 minutes.

Slice 5 Apples: choose your favorite apple; for either a sweet or tangy fruit Tart. Preheat oven for 400 degrees.

Squeeze Lemon over the apples, thus preventing them from browning. The lemon also adds a slight tanginess to the sweet apples.

After the Puff Pastry is evenly thawed out, roll it onto a sheet of Parchment Paper. Use one large brown egg and whisk into a small bowl. Now on the outer frame of the puff pastry, brush the egg wash on the outer edges, this adds a beautiful golden crust to the tart.

Carefully align the sliced apples within the frame of the Puff Pastry. Lightly sprinkle the light brown sugar and roasted cinnamon mixture (1/2cup) over the apples. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

As soon as you take the tart out of the oven, immediately drizzle Organic Apricot Jam over the dessert. Simply mix Apricot Jam and water for 15-20 seconds in the microwave to loosen up the jam. Slide the tart from the parchment paper and onto a hard surface, thus allow cooling before cutting the first slice.

For the closed Vegan Puff Pastry, brush the rest of the egg wash on the outside of this tart.

This is right out of the oven with a Golden brown crust, now glaze the Apricot Jam to add a hint of crust flavor and shimmer to the dessert.

Quickly, add the Apricot Jam on top for a delectable golden-color and texture! Enjoy both an open and closed Vegan Apple Tart.

Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pie

This Holiday Season (2020) is very different in many ways but I have continued to push forth the envelope in my cooking skills. For this year’s Thanksgiving feast, I prepared a Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pie and used the NuWave Air Fryer to bake my Sweet Potato Yams. The Fall Leaf toppers on the Sweet Potato Pie are also Gluten-Free. The Sweet Potatoes are baked beautifully with gushing caramelized juices from the sides of these root vegetables. From this point forward, this food blog will incorporate more Gluten-Free friendly meals.

BLAQHAUS in NoHo

An Upscale but down to earth Black-Owned Southern Cuisine restaurant in North Hollywood has been opened since 2019. In the midst of Covid-19, the restaurant has outdoor patio seating with sliding doors if guests choose to sit outside or inside. Before being seated, the hostess will check your temperature because they abide by the rules of Healthcare Officials.

Brunch on Sunday’s at BLAQHAUS in NoHo is where you should be with your family and friends. A great local spot to dine over tasty, gorgeous drinks and scrumptious platters and bowls of Southern food. @blaqhausnoho

Brunch All day @Blaqhausnoho From Bottomless Mimosas to a White & Red Wine Sangria

The Sangria was an iconic drink for me, a beautiful balance between the sweetness of the white wine and the tanginess from the red wine and tart fruit.

Shrimp & Grits, To Egg or Not To Egg, and The French Toast are Coming with Hennessy Syrup.

A creamy, slightly sweet bowl of grits with a mix of cheddar and parmesan cheese and perfectly tender jumbo shrimp. Unfortunately, I was unable to clean my entire bowl. Do not worry, as soon as I arrived home, the Shrimp & Grit leftovers were devoured in a matter of seconds. THE BEST Shrimp & Grits, I have tried on the West Coast. I even dreamed about the dish a week later. The French Toast was soft and crunchy, plus this dish paired nicely with the Shrimp & Grits.

If you are looking for a get hangout spot for weekend Brunch with family and friends, check out BLAQHAUS in NoHo. Continue to support Black-Owned Businesses. Let the restaurant know that HippieSrirachaGirl referred you.

Stay safe and vigilant,
