Urth Caffe Salad
Photo Edited by: Obdulio Carreras

Light, Simple, Fresh-delectable food… this is a certified organic restaurant, 100% chemical free. There are 7 locations for Urth Caffe and each one is unique in their own design. The fresh aroma of earl grey tea infused with cold pressed oil of bergamot awakened my senses as I entered the Urth Caffe. This restaurant stays true to preserving a health-consciousness platform for the community. All of their bread and pastries are made in house each day.

From the menu, I ordered the Urth Caffe Salad, which you can order either in a half or full size. The Urth Caffe Salad is their most popular dish on the menu! The salad is mixed with locally grown mixed greens, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes, hearts of palm, garbanzo beans, Kalamata olives (with pits), pine nuts, Urth vinaigarette dressing and fresh baked bread. Along with the Urth Caffe Salad, I had a Mixed Veggie Juice, which included carrots, beets, celery and ginger. The Mixed Veggie Juice was quite refreshing due to the addition of the celery and ginger. If you are a supporter of restaurants that use locally grown fruits and vegetables then check out an Urth Caffe near you!

Vegetarian Plate w/Callaloo (Greens)
Photo Edited by: Obdulio Carreras

Light, Simple, Fresh-Delectable food… who loves Jamaican Cuisine?! If so, check out this restaurant. Located in Leimert Park a neighborhood in South Los Angeles. Leimert Park represents the historic and cultural hub of the African American Community. Ackee Bamboo Jamaican is one of many restaurants in Leimert Park. This restaurant is family owned and that since of family is present as soon as you enter the restaurant! From their menu, I ordered the Vegetarian Plate w/ Callaloo (Greens). The dish was served with rice & Peas, steamed vegetables, plantains & festival bread. The festival bread is sweet and essentially it is a Caribbean dumpling that is fried. All of the components of this dish, were simply fresh and delectable. With this dish, I had a fresh Coconut as my drink! Coconut water is my favorite, simply refreshing!
