A rotating menu of food from Somalia, Kenya, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, and more! The Haitian menu for June was created by Chef Marie and it highlighted Fried Snapper, Beef Veggie Stew, Haitian BBQ Chicken, Haitian Veggie Plate to Macaroni with Shrimp! This social enterprise employs former refugee chefs in Los Angeles and Orange County. Flavors From Afar celebrate various cultural traditions, ethnic portraits, spices, and delicious snacks that transport you through an authentic global food experience.
The Sambusa w/ Somali Sauce: veggie, cheese, and potato, chicken were all moist inside, with a golden outside crust. There no need for the sauce but if you love a little kick to your food, then dip into the Somali sauce. The Haitian Macaroni had a creamy cheesy sauce cooked with both tender vegetables and shrimp. The portion was large enough to share with friends or family. The Haitian Marinated Kabrit Plate was a pretty decent size of food. The goat fell off of the bone and the sautéed onions and green bell peppers were the perfect complements to the tender meat. I had plenty of leftovers the next day and it was just as flavourful as the day I took my first bite of food. Starting On July 8th, the cuisine of the month will be Venezuelan and I’m thrilled to explore another authentic global food experience.
